Merry Christmas to all of our family and friends! Thank you for visiting our blog page to read our letter this year. Although we don't have much on our blog site yet we are hoping it will be a fun way for you to see what we've been up to lately-especially those of you we don't see very often.
Taylor turned 9 this past year and is in the 4th grade at North Trail Elementary School. It's hard to believe that next year will be her last year as an elementary student. She decided to continue on with Girl Scouts for her 5th year. Her decision came right about when she found out her troop would be going to the Mall of America for an overnight party complete with amusement rides all night! Coincidence-I don't think so. Taylor is still taking piano lessons from me-she's tolerated me as her teacher so far :) And she started a dance class this fall which is a combination of tap, ballet, and jazz. So far jazz is the winner. She may be leaving tap and ballet behind after this year.
Logan is 8 now and still a head shorter than his sister. I think he is okay with that as he still likes her to carry him around on her back. This past summer Logan was in baseball again with dad as the coach. He really enjoyed baseball but this fall he wanted to give soccer a try and much to his baseball dad's chagrin he loved it! Logan also started piano lessons with the idea in mind that someday he wants to be a drummer. As long as he doesn't get his inspiration from animal on the Muppets I think we can handle it.
This is Dan's 2nd year at Lawson Software. He had the opportunity to go to Las Vegas for his work last March-or at least that's what he told me. I told him what happens in Vegas had to be put in writing for his wife. I haven't gotten that letter yet. During the summer Dan joined the Sheldon Theatre Brass Band which is out of RedWing Minnesota. He has really enjoyed playing with the group and has continued with it through the year.
I'm teaching a handful of piano students (whom I adore!) and working half time at the middle school as the choir assistant/accompanist. Last summer I also taught a group piano class through the Farmington Community Ed. I remain active with the children's ministry at our church and once in a while find time to do a little scrapbooking.
We enjoyed a couple of vacations this year. We spent a week in Wisconsin Dells with my family relaxing and swimming. We also went on a camping trip with Dan's family-which was great except the flat mattress ordeal. In August my parents took the kids for four days and Dan and I along with my sister Julie and her husband Don went to New York City for a four day adventure. None of us had ever been there and we were quite overwhelmed. We saw a couple of Broadway shows and took in some of the first time visitor sites like Central Park and the Statue of Liberty. It's definitely a place we'd like to visit again.
We just had our children's Christmas program this past weekend at our church so I'd like to close with the phrase the angels said to the shepherds that holy night as they were in the fields. It's a nice reminder to me that just as God sent his son to us, he is with us now to help us through all of the turmoil going on in the world. May God Bless you and your family this Christmas.
"Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is the Messiah and Lord."
Merry Christmas!
Love,
Stacy, Dan, Taylor, and Logan
